In a simple extraction the dentist loosens the tooth with an instrument called an elevator. Then the dentist uses an instrument called a forceps to remove the tooth.
BEFORE TOOTH EXTRACTION

- Damaged or man-made heart valves
- Congenital heart defect
- Impaired immune system
- Liver disease (cirrhosis)
- Artificial joint, such as knee or hip replacement
√ Proper Radiographic Assessment Should be done.
INSTRUMENTS TO BE USED

INSTRUMENTS TO BE USED
- Mouth mirror
- Periosteal elevator
- Twizer
- Upper anterior forceps
- Gauze piece
- Gloves
- 2 ml of syringe
EXTRACTION TECHNIQUE
√ Wear a head cap , keep mouth mask and Gloves
√ Maintain asepsis
- Do not touch the light or any other objects after gloving
√ Follow Anesthesia Technique :
- For infraorbital nerve bolck
- For nasopalatine nerve block
√ Retract the flap with periosteal elevator
√ use a forcep- engage between the flap and tooth sarface - take a deep grip with the force to avoid a root fracture - first apply force on buccally and then palatally...apply a more force on buccally and give a rotation movement..And tooth taken out from the socket
√ control bleeding from socket
√ Irrigate with the Betadine
√ keep a gauze piece at the extraction site
AFTER TOOTH EXTRACTION
√ pack the tooth socket with gauze and you’ll be asked to bite down to lessen the bleeding. A few self dissolving stitches may be used to close the tooth extraction site.
* Advise the patient, follow these important dental care guidelines:
- bite down on the gauze for at leas three hours to reduce bleeding and allow a clot to form.
- Apply ice immediately after tooth extraction and at 10-minute intervals.
- Don’t rinse, spit forcibly, or drink from a straw for 24 hours.
- After 24 hours, rinse with a solution of ½ teaspoon of salt mixed into 8 ounces of warm water
- Eat soft foods. Slowly add solid foods as the tooth extraction site heals.
- Avoid the tooth extraction site when brushing and flossing your other teeth.
- Give a medicine :
KETOROLAC TRIMETHAMINE. (ANALGESIC) (10 mg) for 3 days TD
√ If any infection associated with the tooth :
ORDENT (ANTIBIOTIC)
Ornidazole + ofloxacin
(500 mg). (200 mg) For 5 days BD
- Generally, the tooth extraction site will heal in one to two weeks.
